What a perfect day!

BBQ Team

What a perfect day of sunshine for an Autumn Social!

Produce Show tents full of entries, judges having a hard time deliberating over vegetables, flowers, jams and chutneys. A monster spider loomed over the Scarecrow competition flanked by two elegant toffs and Cllr Jerry Elloy presented winning rosettes!

BBQ team dispensed sizzling veggieburgers and hot dogs, Beer Tent sold out and the Home Produce stall did a roaring trade. Tania Mathias awarded the prizes for tallest sunflowers with wit and humour. Andrew Hanson’s Pumpkin competition presentation featured the heaviest pumpkin grown by two young plotholders, a seed shaped ‘Highly Commended’ and the perfect shaped pumpin! Tony Arbour paid a moving tribute to Bob and Jenny in awarding the ‘Bob and Jenny Trevillion Cup’ for Best in Show to Ruth Walker, for her perfect white onions.

The cafe queue snaked out of the door at one point, but everyone enjoyed the homemade cakes and cuppa, thanks to Anne and the cafe team volunteers. And finally, at the Grand Raffle a fantastic range of prizes were won by lucky ticket holders.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped out on the day and to Ruth and the Social committee group who made this such a well run and successful social event!
