Only 10 weeks to go until Hampton Court Garden Festival

Date posted: Monday 3rd May 2021

Hello, a further welcome to the Royal Paddocks Allotment at the Hampton Court Garden Festival blog.
There are only 10 weeks until the RPA will be unveiling its community allotment plot at the show.
There is a small team that has been working through the design and plan since last year, with assistance from other plotholders who have given their advice and support.

Our final design aims to show ‘gardening through time’ and reflect the history and changes in allotment gardening over the past 100 years, coinciding with the RPA’s centenary.

There are 13 community plots at the site this year, including other allotments, community groups and social media influencers. The area is just south of the long water, at the Palace gardens entrance. In the centre of the community allotments zone there will also be talks with experts on ‘grow your own’, soil health and other gardening tips.

The work at the show starts on the 1st of July, with the build lasting 4 days, the press day and RHS members days are from the 5th-7th July, with general public show open days from the 8th to the 11th July. The final few days will be spent clearing all the items from the plot.

We have also been busy growing, although the weather hasn’t been too kind to us so far!

WE NEED YOU! Do you have any reliable plants that are at their best early July, or any spare pots, Hi- visibility vests, props, or are able to help to build or breakdown the plot?

Please get in touch at rpaathamptoncourt@gmail.com
Or pop by plot 35 for a chat.

There will be regular updates here on further involvement including childrens crafts for the plot.

Information/updates will also be posted on the shed at the entrance, and on the RPA’s instagram profile @royalpaddocksallotments

That’s all for now…..
